Short lessons and living books.
Lengthening attention spans and presenting topics by Socratic method.
Respecting the personhood of the child.
Expecting a mature amount of self-control.

Seaside Cottage School, located in lovely Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, is a one-, two-, or three-day-a-week elementary school tutorial program where students read from primary source books and compose answers longhand. An old-fashioned education meeting the needs of the 21st Century.
Less is More….
As a Cottage School, we don’t meet 180 days a year for 7 hours a day. We have a short year, a short week, and a short day.
Good is the enemy of great….
So with less classroom time, we are always on the lookout for the very best books; children learn from original authors.
